Wilmington’s newest development

Over the past weekend, an announcement was made by DETV news that a $100 million dollar project set to transform the eastside of Wilmington’s Riverfront into a multi-faceted “live, work, & play” hub is expected to move forward as early as September of this year; with major construction plans set to happen Spring of 2025. As we encounter the 2nd half of the year we lay witness to many changes occurring rapidly all around us. Whether in our immediate surroundings, nationally, and even globally the one thing that most people can agree upon is that these next few years will be a foundational cornerstone for generations to come. Rather than focusing on all the chaos, frustration, & uncertainty that seems to be trying to paralyze the untapped socioeconomic potential embedded within our community, this article highlights a new & exciting development happening right here in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Riverfront East” is an opportunity that encourages anybody with a positive communal vision & strong ties to Wilmington to take initiative in contributing to the development of the city. As a people, it is our job to provide value to our community in ways that promote unity & diversity, rather than waiting for the end results to determine our satisfaction with what has been done. The project’s dedicated website, RiverfrontEast.com describes, “acres upon acres of underutilized brownfield ready for development, free from concerns of gentrification. This site, at the inner bend of the Christina River, is perfectly situated to become a cultural cornerstone of the city and stimulate economic growth for generations to come.” Located in the historic “Southbridge” neighborhood, home to cultural landmarks like, Carry My Own Weight apparel, Keem’s Cuisine, & Suite 4 Eleven, there is plenty of room for the city’s native entrepreneurs & leaders to continue to make a statement that says not only are we highly capable, but our presence is beyond necessary in order to access the unrealized potential that has existed in Wilmington for decades.

Phase1 Parcels available for development opportunity.

Executive director of the Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware, Megan McGlinchey is spearheading this ambitious project to transform Wimington’s Riverfront into a cultural   centerpiece for the tri-state area, offering parcels of land to qualifying investors looking to do the same. Inquiries for development opportunities can be submitted via the “contact us” page located directly on the Riverfront East website. With over 1.9 million sq. ft. of office space, 350 thousand sq. ft. of retail space, and 4.7 million sq. ft. of residential space, there is plenty of room to create something truly extraordinary for the city. With high anticipation, the demand for these spaces is just as competitive. Meaning there isn’t really much time to capitalize on this great opportunity. Phase 1 of the Riverfront East project is already underway as the area’s sewage system is being renovated for production. During this time, the Riverwalk pathway that starts on S Market street and follows down to the DuPont Environmental Center will also be expanded to include a path on the opposite side of the river bridging both sides together for a very unique experience. The final phase of construction that will complete the project will begin approximately in Spring of 2027, just 3 years away from a vision that was dreamt about since the inception of the city itself. You should ask yourself, where will you be in 3 years? As the city continues to grow & gain worldwide recognition, will you be part of the few visionaries who will place themselves in the middle of life-changing economic growth, or will you be part of the many who shrug their shoulders & sleep on a city that will soon be known for being restless. As Warren Buffet said, the best time to invest is yesterday and the second best time to invest is today.
